The REGINA MARIA Health Network has recently inaugurated the most automated laboratory in the local health system, equipped with medical systems that worth 3.5 million euros, the largest investment of its kind in Romania until today. The Central Laboratory is the first reference center Roche Diagnostics for biochemistry and immunology, which means the introduction of the best technology lines for this specialty, with two unique instruments in the country: the preanalytical system cobas® 8100 and the immunology analyzer cobas® E801.
The Central Laboratory REGINA MARIA serves daily 2,200 patients in the Network and has an annual capacity of processing of 20 million tests, due to the fully automated platforms. The laboratory has a surface area of 2700m², and its arrangement has been carried out over a period of seven months.
“The Central Laboratory is a technological landmark for the profile medicine from Romania and is built to the same standards as any other unit in the Health Network REGINA MARIA. The investment in arranging the place is almost of 1 million EUR, to which is added the value of the line of medical equipment, the largest in the country at this time. Roche Diagnostics means innovation and passion for science, and the Network association with these values will truly impact the people’s lives. The specialists of the Central Laboratory have at their disposal the most advanced diagnostic equipment, some of the most unique in Romania, which entails direct benefits to the clinicians, but especially for the patients that we take care”, stated Fady Chreih, CEO of the Health Network REGINA MARIA.
The most performant line of biochemistry and immunology: multiple benefits for the patients
The technological systems in this department forms, in itself, a small laboratory equipped with innovative platforms for the vitro diagnostic, the method that influences over 60% of the decisions of the doctors. Cobas® 8000 line has the highest rate of work – 90% of the results are provided in the same day – and the highest accuracy in testing.
“The preanalytical system cobas® 8100 and the immunology analyzer cobas® E801 are the first of its kind in the country. Roche line, generally involves multiple benefits for the patients. The human error is close to zero because each sample enters the circuit with a unique bar code, that is permanently watched in the IT system. The Roche platforms have a processing capacity of 4 million tests / year and take into account the patient comfort because are involving the harvesting of small amounts of blood without being influenced the accuracy of the result. In addition to the usual tests, these are allowing some special tests, more complex, essential in the diagnosis of the oncological diseases”, says Olimpia Enache, Chief Operations Officer in the Health Network REGINA MARIA.
