Ambassador Saint-Paul: French authorities doing their utmost to ensure security, we must stay together

The French authorities are doing their utmost to ensure security, and at this time, unity in defending European values is the key aspect, French Ambassador in Bucharest François Saint-Paul said on Saturday, as he attended together with part of the staff of the diplomatic mission in Bucharest “The Color Run” event organized in Bucharest in support of Paris bid for the 2024 Olympics.

The Ambassador also spoke about the recent attacks in France.

We had these attacks, but France and the authorities are doing their utmost to ensure security. Last year we organized the Euro Football Cup and we were able to ensure security for everyone, spectators and footballers. The Olympics can be proof that we stand together, together for the values we share, the diplomat said.

He also referred briefly to the presidential elections taking place in France on Sunday.

It is certain that these elections are important, important for my country, for the French, and that they can play a role in the future of the European Union, but we will see tomorrow, Saint-Paul said.

According to him, EU countries have so far succeeded to defend the values that unite them.

I think we need to be careful. We are doing everything we can and I think that so far we have managed to stay by our values and the desire to defend these values of freedom, solidarity and respect. I want to assure you that both the Romanian and the French authorities and all the countries of the European Union stay united and share a common will, Francois Saint-Paul pointed out.
