DefMin Les to attend UE’s informal ministerial meeting

National Defence Minister Gabriel Les will leave for Valleta, Malta, in order to participate on Wednesday and Thursday in the informal meeting of defence ministers of the European Union (EU) member states, the National Defence Ministry (MApN) informs.

Topical themes on the European agenda will be tackled within the meeting, such as implementing the Global Strategy of the EU on the security and defence dimension and the stage of operations and missions under the ageis of Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).

“European ministers of defence will discuss about the permanent structural cooperation and means of improving the Fast Response of the EU, especially regarding the EU’s Tactical Combat Groups, as well as the operational commitment of the EU in the Mediterranean Sea region and Libya, with the attendance of the NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for peacekeeping operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix,” a release of the MApN sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday reveals.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Gabriel Les will have a meeting with Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency Jorge Domecq, occasion on which priority aspects on the European defence agenda will be tackled.
