FITPTI reconfirmed as European festival

The Iasi International Theatre Festival for Young Audience (FITPTI) was reconfirmed as European Festival, Oltita Cintec, art director of the “Luceafarul” Theatre for Children and Youth – organiser of the event – has recently announced.

According to the source, FITPTI was reviewed by nine international auditors as a “remarkable festival.”

“An international expert committee designated by the European Festival Association in Brussels to assess, at the second edition, events from all over Europe that applied for the reputed label, has released its results. The festival was labeled as remarkable,” asserted Oltita Cintec.

The “Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe” competition is co-funded by the European Commission, and is headed by Sir Jonathan Mills, director of the International Theatre Festival in Edinburgh. Through an official communique, he appreciates the international co-operation as “a reality and a necessity to the art, to the artists and to the audience, in equal measure. “I’m happy to nominate, alongside my jury colleagues, the ones who get the EFFE 2017-2018 label, thus honouring the festivals for their significant contribution all over Europe. To be inside the EFFE means to be part of a strong community of festival organisers”, according to Mills.

In their turn, the representatives of the European Festival Association deem that FITPTI is “an event that has also benefited from this priceless certificate in the previous years (2015-2016), from the very first competition of this kind, it was re-confirmed as a manifestation that cumulates all the conditions in the association’s assessment grid.”

”FITPTI continues to be a member of the EFFE community, next to other cultural events of high artistic standing and a significant impact at local, national and international level,” say EFFE’s representatives.

The jury members also say that FITPTI “is firmly serving the community” as it is the only such event in the region, with “such an innovative concept” trusteed exigently each year around a theme and with “strong international connections and a particular focus on the European dimension.”

This year’s FITPTI, now at the 10th edition, is to take place 5 through 12 October at the “Luceafarul” Children and Youth Theatre in Iasi.
