MAE: Noway enforces control of all persons at borders as of 1 May

The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) informs Romanian citizens who reside, transit or travel on the soil of the Kingdom of Norway, that starting 1 May, authorities in this country will institute the measure of systematic control of persons and identification/travel documents for all the people who enter or exit the Schengen area through the Norwegian border crossing points.

According to a release of the MAE sent to AGERPRES on Sunday, the measure was enforced following security risk assessments and will be maintained until the Norwegian authorities will assess that the threat level of terrorist menaces will be sufficiently reduced.

The control for entering and exiting the Kingdom of Norway is enforced for both Norwegian citizens and all foreign citizens, including citizens of the European Union and European Economic Area member states.

Romanian citizens can ask for consular assistance at Romania’s Embassy to the Kingdom of Norway, using the following telephone numbers: +4722561237; +4722446951; +4722556832; +4722558227. The calls are redirected to the Centre for Contact and Support for Romanian Nationals Abroad (CCSCRS) and taken by Call Centre operators around the clock. Moreover, Romanian citizens dealing with a difficult, special situation, of an urgency nature, can use the Embassy’s emergency telephone: +4799153137, the MAE mentions.

The MAE recommends accessing the following internet pages: https://www.politi.no/nyhet_16825.xhtml , http://oslo.mae.ro and www.mae.ro and brings to mind that Romanian citizens traveling abroad also have at their disposal the “Travel safe” application (available for free in “App Store” and “Google Play”), which offers information and travel advices, as well as a SMS alert service of the information campaign “A SMS can save your life!.”
