Mr. Tomasz Ignaczak, General Director KRUK Romania: KRUK Romania offers the highest quality services to its business partners and affordable repayment solutions to the clients

This year marks 10 years since KRUK entered Romania. What is the balance sheet of this decade of activity here? How did the local branch develop during these years and what is the volume of investments made in Romania so far?

For KRUK Group the Romanian branch was the first international project and I can say it was a very successful decision taken by KRUK. The past 10 years of activity on the Romanian market are the beginning of many more years of fruitful activity on the dynamic receivables management market in Romania and in Europe as well.

I joined KRUK Romania in August 2011 as Director of the Collection Division and my career developed along with KRUK Romania and today I am General Director. When KRUK first opened the company in 2007, there were only about 40 employees and today we have a team of over 600 persons, working both in the headquarters offices in Bucharest and in Targoviste, where we have the Contact Center.

Over the last 10 years we have developed strong relations with our business partners and with our clients as well.   KRUK Romania offers the highest quality services to its business partners and affordable repayment solutions to the clients, to help them settle their financial problems.

What were the financial results with which KRUK Romania closed 2016?

In 2016, KRUK Group together with IFC, member of the World Bank, concluded the biggest transaction on the receivables management market in Romania, by purchasing a receivables portfolio with a total nominal value of Euro 600 million from Eurobank Group.

In 2016, the Group’s investments in assigned debt portfolios on the Romanian market reached the amount of Euro 87.9 million, most of them in retail portfolios, as compared to the amount of Euro 36.6 million in 2015. The investments made in 2016 granted the Group a 35% market share on the debt purchase segment on the Romanian market.

What is the Group’s development strategy on the Romanian market in 2017?

Our team developed, the projects developed as well and today we are happy to say we are the leader of the Romanian receivables management market. KRUK has been and will continue to be one of the most active players on the debt purchase segment and will participate in all auctions organized by our business partners (financial banking and non-banking entities).  KRUK has constantly invested in debt portfolios sold on the Romanian market ever since establishment of the Romanian branch.

KRUK strategy is a long term one and we will continue to be active in processing and purchasing NPL portfolios in Romania.

How do you characterize the Romanian commercial debt collection and debt management market? What opportunities and challenges does it present for an actor of KRUK’s caliber?

KRUK Romania is member of the AMCC, association that gathers approx. 15 members of the receivables management industry on the Romanian market.  The association is member of FENCA and acts as a self-regulatory body.

Being the leader of the receivables management market in Romania, KRUK acts in full compliance with the terms and provisions of the Code of Conduct and has been trendsetter on all markets where is has operations. Since 2008 when the Group implemented its unique pro-agreement strategy, based on a client-oriented amicable collection model, KRUK has contributed to the change of the industry image.

How do you position yourself  in relation to your competition on the Romanian market?

In our relations with the peers of the industry on the Romanian market, as well as on all other markets where we have operations: Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Italy and Spain, we apply our values: we respect all our competitors and we develop our activity based on the rules of transparency and fair play.

KRUK is the leader of the Romanian market and the leader of the Central European receivables management industry, position that comes along with recognition of the peers but also determines us to be better every day in all our endeavors.

We are committed to acting to the mutual benefit of our business partners and clients as well, while bringing innovative and affordable solutions for the repayment of debts.

KRUK mission is to help our clients settle their financial problems and come back to the normal economic cycle, while returning the much-needed liquidities to the economic circuit.
