Former National Liberal Party (PNL) President Alina Gorghiu stated on Wednesday that a PNL leader is not allowed to offend the party by saying it is “a mess,” as Raluca Turcan did while in Cluj, adding that party members should not be offended.
“Those PNL members who are talking about PNL having a fate identical to PNTCD’s are embarrassing and ridiculous. It’s a superficial discourse and I can’t understand how someone who has the pretention of being a PNL member, who is part of PNL’s leadership, could say that the party is a mess, as long as the party consists of [party] members. It’s the sum of its members, whom you are not allowed to offend regardless of who you are,” PNL’s ex-president Alina Gorghiu stated.
Asked whether he reproaches Raluca Turcan for making the statement, Alina Gorghiu stated that the name of the person who made the statement is not relevant.
“I’m not going to name names because the name is irrelevant. I would reproach myself too if I were to make such a statement by mistake. I don’t believe you have to offend the PNL members, who worked. You can name a person who chose a wrong strategy. You can scold yourself in the mirror for voting alongside the whole leadership to take a decision, but I don’t believe you can or are allowed to offend the entire party and all of its members by saying they are a mess,” Alina Gorghiu added.
Raluca Turcan had stated in Cluj that PNL “was a mess.”
“If we were to form the Government, with this party that is shaking at all joints, do you honestly believe PNL would have been better as a ruling party than those who are ruling now? (…) As soon as I was elected, I ordered a professional report to understand what happened to PNL. The conclusion of this report was that, despite some very good results, the National Liberal Party was a mess. I said it and I’ll repeat it, at the risk of discomfiting,” Raluca Turcan had said in Cluj.
