Economy Ministers from Romania and Republic of Moldova met in Ploiesti

Organizing the exhibition “Made in Moldova” in Ploiesti, at the end of April, attended , besides other officials, by the Vice PM of the Republic of Moldova, Octavian Calmic – the Economy Minister, also occasioned his meeting with his Romanian counterpart, Economy Minister Mihai Tudose.

On April 27, 2017, when the exhibition “Made in Moldova” officially opened in Prahova, Ploiesti, the Economy Minister and Vice PM of the Republic of Moldova, Octavian Calmic, also met the Romanian Economy Minister, Mihai Tudose. The meeting took place at the Administrative Palace in Ploiesti. At the meeting, the Romanian Economy minister and his Moldovan counterpart had discussions on developing the necessary projects for the interconnection of the natural gas and electricity networks in Romania and Republic of Moldova. The Moldovan EcoMin mentioned that the performance of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline and the interconnection of the electric lines with Romania will be declared as public utilities of national interest in the Republic of Moldova, and in this respect, a law will be adopted in order to simplify the expropriation and authorizing procedures. The most attractive fields for joint investments and new opportunities for businesses and cooperation projects in areas of common interest were also analyzed. The discussions have been attended by representatives of Transgaz and Transelectrica, as well as by the President of the Prahova County Council, Bogdan Toader, by the Prahova County Madalina Lupea, and by the Sub-Prefect Emil Draganescu.

The meeting of the Economy Minister of the Republic of Moldova and his counterpart Mihai Tudose was actually part of the agenda of the official visit made by the Moldovan Vice PM in Romania, on the occasion of organizing the exhibition “Made in Moldova” in Ploiesti, from April 27 to 29.

The event opened in the presence of the Vice PM, the Environment Minister in the Romanian Government, Gratiela-Leocadia Gavrilescu and the Vice PM, Economy Minister in the Moldovan Government, Octavian Calmic. The event was organized by the Prahova County Council, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, the Prahova Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Association Euroregiunea Siret-Prut-Nistru and the Organization for Promoting Export and Investments from the Republic of Moldova. At this event, dozens of producers from the Republic of Moldova exhibited, for three days, their products, from a wide range, at the Columns Hall of the Culture Palace in Ploiesti. There were also present district presidents from the Republic of Moldova, Prahova deputies, county counselors, mayors from Prahova and from the Republic of Moldova, representatives of the Prahova Chamber of Commerce and Industry and of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Moldova, as well as of the business environment in Prahova and the Republic of Moldova.

In addition of the exhibition component, the event also included a bilateral economic forum Romania – Republic of Moldova.
