Deloitte inaugurated on Thursday in Bucharest the European Regional Services Centre that will serve as a technology hub for local and international customers, and within the next few years will reach a team of 2,000 employees in Romania, from 600 specialists counting for at present, announced the representatives of the B2B professional services international company.
The Deloitte Technology Centre already counts for over 100 IT consultants and will generate up to 800 jobs by 2020, declared Alastair Teare, CEO of Deloitte Central Europe. By also taking into account the development of the other Deloitte business lines in Romania – audit services, taxes, law, consultancy, risk management, the company will reach 2,000 employees on the domestic market.
The Romanian Government welcomes this investment, not only because it will create 800 highly paid jobs but also because it will provide services for the European and global market, stated the Minister of Communications and Information Society, Augustin Jianu, on the occasion of the official opening of the Deloitte Technology Centre.
The Deloitte Centre in Bucharest, which will provide technology solutions to customers in Europe and around the world, joins the other three Deloitte technology centres in the world, located in Hyderabad (India), Belfast (Northern Ireland) and Orlando (USA) given that technology is one of Deloitte’s growth pillars.
For the development of this centre, Deloitte has also analysed other 3-4 Continental Europe countries, but Romania has provided the best mix for the company’s criteria, specified Jim Moffatt, CEO of Global Consulting. Among the most important factors in this decision were the human capital and the IT infrastructure in Romania, detailed Ahmed Hassan, country manager of Deloitte Romania.
“Setting up the technology centre in Bucharest means an acknowledgment of the IT talents that Romania has as well as the dynamics of the local IT market. I trust that this regional service centre will become a global reference point and will provide IT talents in Romania the opportunity to develop their skills by engaging in major international projects,” said Satya Swaroop Roddam, managing director of Deloitte Technology.
Deloitte Technology will provide SAP services, Analytics / Information Management (AIM) and digital technologies to Deloitte clients in Romania as well as major European markets such as the UK and Germany, providing software applications and services to 75 pct of Fortune Top100 companies.
“Our vision is that Deloitte Technology acts as a regional Hub for delivering high-end technological solutions to large customers. Moreover, we want to build a team of talented IT professionals here to provide innovative technological solutions that change the former’s way of doing business and helping them grow their businesses. Our centre is integrated into Deloitte’s international network and together, as a global team, we will work to provide solutions. Within the centre, we develop solid skills in technological areas such as systems, applications and products, information delivery, data analysis and digital and cloud solutions,” further said Satya Swaroop Roddam.
