96 minibuses donated by Romanian Government to pupils in Republic of Moldova reach destination

A number of 96 minibuses for pupils’ transport arrived in the Republic of Moldova, after a Memorandum for granting educational assistance was signed during the Romanian Government meeting on 22 March, respectively the continuation of the school minibuses donation programme meant to solve the most difficult and urgent situations in the Republic of Moldova’s countryside.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Regional Development, Public Administration and European Funds (MDRAPFE) sent on Friday to AGERPRES, there are 95 vehicles with 16 + 1 seats and one motorized vehicle for the transport of people with reduced mobility, equipped for a number of two special seats – wheelchairs.

The minibuses purchased by MDRAPFE are fully equipped and prepared to enter service, the Romanian side also covering the expenses related to their delivery in Chisinau. The vehicles will be allocated according to the needs identified, preferably district schools at regional level.

In addition to these 96 minibuses, Romania also donated another 100 minibuses to the Republic of Moldova in September 2014.

The donation contract between the Romanian Government (represented by the Ministry of Public Finance) and the Government of the Republic of Moldova (represented by the Ministry of Education as the beneficiary of the mobile goods) was signed on 12 April, based on the exchange of letters regarding the donation acceptance, MDRAPFE further informs.
