The 4th edition of the European Union (EU) “Member States Square” will take place in Cismigiu Park on Sunday, representing an occasion for Bucharest residents to get closer to the European member states’ specific traditions, art, music, dance and gastronomy.
“The people present in the Cismigiu Park, parents or children, will be able to interact, in a non-formal framework, with representatives of the embassies of the EU member states that will be attending this event. […] Workshops for creating helmets, frames, flags, boxes and face-painting will be organized and on the alleys lading to the Cismigiu Park turret, traditional craftsmen will bring to life less known customs, through demonstrations of pottery, blacksmithing, linocut, weaving using the horizontal and vertical loom,” the City Hall of Bucharest (PMB) informs.
Moreover, the Bucharest residents can enjoy an international artistic performance that will feature music and dance moments which are specific to Romania and other member states of the EU.
The event organized by the PMB, through Proedus, together with the Romania’s Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Infoeuropa Centre, will take place between 10:00 hrs and 18:00 hrs. Through this initiative the Europe Day is celebrated in Bucharest, as well as cultural diversity of the EU, marking the 10th anniversary of our country’s accession to the EU.
In October 2008, the European Parliament formally acknowledge 9 May as an official holiday, being celebrated in different forms in the majority of EU members states and in other countries around it.
