Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor Melescanu met on Friday ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Bucharest Farid Abdinbayov, with talks focusing on subjects of interest for bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on ways to render economic cooperation dialogue more dynamic.
The meeting took place in the context of the 25th anniversary this June of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Romania and Azerbaijan, the Foreign Ministry said in a release.
“The Romanian side pointed out the positive developments in bilateral trade in recent years, underscoring the need to have the Romanian-Azeri intergovernmental commission for economic, trade and technical cooperation resume activity as soon as possible, as the main instrument for stimulating economic cooperation between Romania and Azerbaijan,” the press release said.
At the same time, the sides evoked the possibility to organize a joint business forum on the sidelines of the commission’s works, as well as cooperation perspectives for energy and transport projects with regional impact, the Foreign Ministry also informed.
