MP Catalin Radulescu, indicted for violating the regime of weapons and ammunition

PSD MP Catalin Radulescu was indicted for violating the regime of weapons and ammunition, in the case opened by the prosecutors of the Prosecution Office attached to the Supreme Court, after the parliamentarian stated that the protesters in the Victoriei Square should be chased with the water cannons and that he has an AKM machine gun which he used to fight in the Revolution, and which he is ready to use again, judicial sources stated on Wednesday for News.ro.

According to the quoted sources, approx. two weeks ago, prosecutors informed Catalin Radulescu about the accusation and about the fact that he is suspect.

Prosecution Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice acted by the law, and it opened a criminal file on March 14, in the case of the statements made by MP Catain Radulescu, who is suspended from PSD for six months. Initially, prosecutors investigated the case in rem, for public disorder.

On March 15, Catalin Radulescu came at the Prosecution Office attached to the Supreme Court, being heard as witness, given that the inquiry was in the stage of the in rem investigations.

After Catalin Radulescu’s statement according to which the protesters in the Victoriei Square should be chased with water cannons and those referring to the ALM machine gun which he used to fight in the Revolution, and which he is ready to use again, three people in the Arges County requested the Prosecution Office attached to the Pitesti Court of Appeal to take action by the law. The Prosecution Office attached to the Pitesti Court of Appeal sent the complaints to the Prosecution Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice.

Arges County Police also took action by the law after Radulescu’s statements, checks being made related to observing the Law on the regime of weapons and ammunition.

On March 17, the police officers in the Arges County cancelled Catalin Radulescu’s gun license, after they checked at his home, the way of keeping the guns, and they noticed that the parliamentarian was keeping the AKM machine gun for which he wasn’t entitled to hold ammunition, without the hindrance, and they discovered ammunition that doesn’t fit to the hunting weapon which Radulescu was holding legally.

Local sources stated for News.ro that at Constantin Radulescu’s home, there were found the hunting weapon which he was holding legally, as well as the AKM gun which the parliamentarian was keeping as a collection weapon, which is functional, but for which the MP doesn’t have the right to hold ammunition, and which he should have blocked with a hindrance in the trigger area. The fact that the weapon wasn’t properly blocked is also the reason for a fee of RON 2,500.

The PSD MP Catalin Radulescu stated on March 13, in an interview for “Adevarul”, that the protesters in the Victoriei Square should be chased with water cannons: “Why do they still there like fools? Don’t they have anything to do, don’t they have jobs, don’t they have children?”

Besides, he said that he kept his AKM machine gun which he used to fight in the Revolution and he is ready to use it again: “Nobody will take it in my life, and I keep it, who knows, if somebody will have an idea to transform this state for which we fought, I am ready to immediately come out in the street with my gun and fire”.

One day later, Radulescu stated that after his statements referring to the protesters, he received 150 death threats, reason for which he contacted his lawyers and he made a criminal complaint, so 150 people are going to be heard. The Social Democrat wished to mention that he continues not to agree that people are protesting and that they “are not authorized” to occupy Victoriei Square, although GEO 13 was rejected. Radulescu also said he is a hobbyist, that he has “some weapons”, but he never fired in his life.

On April 15, PSD leaders decided within the National Executive Committee to suspend the Social Democrat Catalin Radulescu for six months from the party, due to his statements.
