National cyber security exercise – CyDEx17, organised by SRI

The Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) organises from 15 to 17 May through the National Cyberint Centre a live national cyber security exercise titled CyDEx17, informs the SRI in a release sent to AGERPRES on Friday.

This first edition of the exercise is organised in accordance with Romania’s Cyber Security Strategy and in partnership with the National Defence Ministry (MApN), the Internal Affairs Ministry (MAI), the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE), the Special Telecommunications Service (STS), the Guard and Protection Service (SPP), the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE), the National Registry Office for Classified Information (ORNISS) and CERT-RO.

“CyDEx17 will unfold at the cyber shooting range of the National Cyberint Centre, created and personalized for this exercise in particular, and is focused on the exercising and assessment of the cyber incidents’ management, the operational and strategic response thereto, ensuring a proper security level for cyber infrastructures, as well as the optimization of the cooperation process among institutions with a view to identifying and restricting the impact of this kind of incidents,” the SRI release reads.

The exercise will contribute “to awareness of the training level of the entities involved, should an event affect the cyber-space at national level, as well as to the strengthening of the public-private partnership in the field.”

Over 60 institutions in the public and private sectors will participate in the event, “to test and use ways of reaction to cyber incidents, to share information on these in a fast and efficient manner, by coordinating the defence capacities.”

According to SRI, CyDEx17 will allow the compliance with the provisions of the Cyber Security Strategy of Romania, the verification and boosting of the cooperation gears among the public institutions with responsibilities in cyber security, the verification and prompting of the cooperation mechanisms among the public bodies and the private milieu in cyber security, the development of an efficient warning, alert and reaction mechanism to cyber incidents/ attacks.
