Code orange flood advisories issued for 13 counties; code yellow for 24 counties

The National Hydrology and Water Management Institute (INHGA) on Monday after-noon issued code orange flood advisories valid throughout Tuesday, 14:00hrs, for 13 counties and code yellow flood advisories for 24 counties valid throughout Tuesday at mid-night.

The code orange advisories, in force July 3, 2017, 16:00hrs – July 4, 2017, 14:00hrs, comprised the rivers in the Desnatui basin (counties of Mehedinti and Dolj); the Jiu – upstream of S.H. Podari (counties of Hunedoara, Gorj, Mehedinti and Dolj); the Olt tributaries in the counties of Valcea, Arges, Olt, Gorj and Dolj; the Calmatui and Vedea – their upper basins and middle as well as lower basin tributaries (counties of Arges, Olt and Teleorman); the upper basin and middle as well as lower basin tributaries of the Arges (counties of Arges, Dambovita, Giurgiu, Teleorman and Ilfov); the upper basin as well as the middle and lower basin tributaries of the Ialomita, (counties of Dambovita, Prahova and Ialomita).

Flooding is more likely to occur between July 3, 18:00hrs and July 4, 02:00hrs on rivers in the counties of Gorj, Valcea and Olt, and between July 3, 22:00hrs – July 4, 10:00hrs on rivers in the counties of Arges, Olt and Teleorman.

Starting on Monday, 16:00hrs, throughout Tuesday 24:00hrs, code yellow flood advisories will be in place for the basins of the rivers of Drincea, Desnatui (counties of Mehedinti and Dolj), Jiu (counties of Hunedoara, Gorj, Mehedinti and Dolj), Olt (counties of Harghita, Covasna, Brasov, Sibiu, Valcea, Arges, Olt, Gorj and Dolj), Calmatui, Vedea (counties of Arges, Olt and Teleorman), Arges (counties of Arges, Damboviţa, Giurgiu, Teleorman, Ilfov and Calarasi), Ialomita (counties of Dambovita, Prahova, Ilfov, Buzau and Ialomita), Buzau – upper and middle basin as well as tributaries (counties of Brasov, Covasna and Buzau), Putna (Vrancea County), Rm. Sarat (counties of Buzau and Vrancea), tributaries of the Lower Barlad (counties of Vrancea and Galati), small tributaries of the Siret in the counties of Vrancea and Galati, small tributaries of the Prut in Galati County, and the rivers of Dobrogea (the counties of Constanta and Tulcea).

Dangerous weather conditions are likely to occur on the lower tributaries of the rivers included in the advisories as well.
