Coca-Cola HBC Romania invests EUR 7 million in the Timisoara factory. The first high-speed dose bottling line in Romania has a capacity of 90,000 doses per hour

Coca-Cola HBC Romania, the most important company in the local beverages industry, inaugurated the most recent investment, amounting EUR 7 million: a high-speed production line for bottling doses, at the Timisoara factory, with a maximum production capacity of 90,000 doses per hour. With this new and important local investment, Coca-Cola HBC restates its determined and long-term commitment towards the Romanian market.

The new dose bottling line launched by Coca-Cola HBC Romania at the Timisoara factory currently is the fastest on the local market and has a high level of cutting edge automatization. Is daily production capacity is of 2 million doses. It is also the most efficient line in terms of energy, within the Timisoara factory (410 kW/h), being the line with the lowest water consumption per one liter of produced beverage (1.1 L). The project was started in November, 2016, and the testing period was completed at the end of May, 2017.

“We are present on the Romanian market since more than 25 years, and our commitment here is very strong. We are now expanding our roots at local level by a new investment, amounting EUR 7 million, in a high-speed dose bottling line. This investment is a new confirmation of our deep commitment towards the local economy and community. We are happy that our factory in Timisoara now has the fastest beverage bottling line in Romania. We are also proud of our contribution at the level of the local community. We commit to continue investing, Romania is a very important market within the Coca-Cola HBC group, and we are very excited about what’s next” stated Jaak Mikkel, Coca-Cola HBC Romania General Manager.

“We were glad to find out about the expansion of the production capacity of the Coca-Cola HBC factory in Timisoara. Coca-Cola provides an example of commitment to be followed, with a strong presence in Romania since more than 25 years. Coca-Cola, one of the most relevant American brands, supports creating new jobs on the Romanian market and continues to support the communities where it operates through the social responsibility programs” stated His Excellency Hans G. Klemm, the US Ambassador I Romania, at the event.

The new dose bottling line is relied on an innovative filling system, patented by Krones – the European leader in the provision of technologies for producing beverages and packages – and its functioning is provided by four specialists on each turn, supported by experts of the other departments of the factory. Having a maximum production capacity of 90,000 units per hour, in doses of 330 ml and 500 ml, the new line will serve both the Romanian and the European markets, in the future.

The Coca-Cola HBC factory in Timisoara was inaugurated on August 12, 1995. At that time, there were three production lines, which have been replaced later by new and modern equipment. Today, at the Timisoara factory there are bottled products of the ranges Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Schweppes, Nestea and Joy. These products are serving both the Romanian market (except for Joy) and other countries, in which the Timisoara factory exports – Bulgaria, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Greece and other countries in the region. The packages produced and bottled at the Timisoara factory, besides the doses of 330 ml and 500 ml, include: 750 ml PET (unique in Europe), 1.5 L PET, 2 L PET and 2.5 L PET, for the carbonated soft drinks, and 500 ml PET and 1.5 L PET for products bottled in aseptic conditions.

In 2014, the Timisoara factory was awarded with the European Water Stewardship Golden Medal, a certification that proves the company’s commitment in implementing a transparent and fair policy of managing and using water, and indicates that Coca-Cola HBC Romania operations and procedures are fair and sustainable. All the three Coca-Cola HBC factories have this distinction (European Water Stewardship), Romania being the first country within the Coca-Cola HBC group with all the factories (Ploiesti, Poiana Negrii and Timisoara) certified according to this standard.
