Commissioner Cretu: Recent progress in implementing operational programmes – a reason of satisfaction

The progress recorded recently in the implementation of the operational programmes is satisfactory, in particular as regards the designation of the management and control bodies of the structural funds and of European investments, and here we are waiting for the reimbursement applications, the European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu said after a meeting she had on Monday in Brussels with the Minister Delegate for European Funds, Rovana Plumb.

“Over July 4 – 5 a high-level mission headed by the DG REGIO deputy managing director Normunds Popens took place in Bucharest, to talk and agree upon with the Romanian authorities a common work agenda that includes all measures and commitments to be accomplished in the following weeks in order to boost absorption. I praise the Romanian authorities for their work and efforts, alongside the colleagues with the DG REGIO, for identifying blockages and delays in the implementation of the operational programmes,” Corina Cretu specified in a release by the European Commission’s Representation in Romania.

The European Commissioner for Regional Policy received the Romanian Minister Delegate in Brussels to approach the implementation stage of the cohesion policy in Romania.

“We count on the support of the Ministry to alter the Regional Operational Programme so as to allow the financing of the projects submitted by the two regions with a budget of at least EUR 50 million,” Cretu added.
