On Wednesday, Lower House Speaker Liviu Dragnea opened in Tel Aviv the proceedings of the Parliament-to-Parliament Forum, against the backdrop of his visit to Israel. At the same time, he discussed with his Israeli counterpart Yuli-Yoel Edelstein the expansion of Romanian-Israeli cooperation in several fields, considering that this Forum opens “a new stage” in relations between the two countries.
“At the invitation of my Israeli counterpart, Yuli-Yoel Edelstein, I had the honour to open today, in Tel Aviv, the series of works of the Parliament-to-Parliament Forum. Ever since the start of this project, in March, we wanted to bring to the same table the members of the special parliamentary committees from both Parliaments, so that our joint objectives could be put into practice as fast as possible,” Liviu Dragnea wrote on Facebook.
The PSD leader added he also talked with Yuli-Yoel Edelstein about the expansion of Romanian-Israeli cooperation in other fields too, “because this Forum opens a new stage in the relations between our countries.”
Lower House Speaker Liviu Dragnea started an official visit to Israel on Tuesday, being set to meet the Speaker of the Knesset and other “high-level officials,” who were not named.
“During the visit, the Romanian parliamentary delegation will meet Mr Yuli-Yoel Edelstein and other Israeli high-level officials. The schedule includes several working sessions at the level of parliamentary committees, as well as a visit to the Yad Vashem Memorial Museum,” the Lower House informed.
