ANAF President dismissed; Mirela Calugareanu appointed in his place

Premier Mihai Tudose has dismissed Romanian Tax Authority (ANAF) President Bogdan Stan, replacing him with Mirela Calugareanu. Along with her husband, the new ANAF President owns four plots of land, three of them located in built-up areas, a 220-square-metre home in Bucharest, a holiday house and an apartment.

The new ANAF President owns four plots of land, a home and an apartment in Bucharest, as well as a holiday house in Giurgiu.

Bogdan Stan was appointed at the helm of ANAF on 13 January 2017, replacing Dragos Doros.

Mirela Calugareanu is Executive Director for Collection within the General Directorate of Public Finances Bucharest.

Bogdan Stan’s replacement comes after both Premier Sorin Grindeanu and Premier Mihai Tudose expressed their dissatisfaction with the level of the tax collection.

PSD President Liviu Dragnea stated on Monday, at the end of the ruling coalition meeting, that he asked Premier Mihai Tudose to analyse “very carefully and with maximum rigour” ANAF’s activity and to take the measures he sees appropriate in order to improve the activity of the institution, considering that he is not “very, very happy.”
