The Senator of the Social Democrat Party (PSD), Eugen Orlando Teodorovici, stated on Saturday on Facebook that the decision to dismiss him as Honorary Counselor of the PM Mihai Tudose was taken by someone who “only thinks that knows everything that moves in Romania”.
Eugen Teodorovici says he was aware of the risk of being possible to be dismissed since he was appointed as Honorary Counselor. “I always knew that this kind of being, to say things clearly and especially to act, is not accepted and promoted by a large part of the current political class… YET. However, as I said before, the chance and the hope you give to any beginning of a road made me believe (some may say it was naivety, or idealism) that things will be different…” the Senator wrote.
Teodorovici claims that the opinions that led to his dismissal are shared by more people having important positions, but only few of them assume them in public; it is about the need to use public money “legally, efficiently, transparently and especially in accordance to the real needs and EXCLUSIVELY in the interest of the Romanian people”.
“To whom this decision belongs? Definitely to someone who only thinks that knows everything that moves in Romania, from economy to judiciary, from heath to social and educational system, from industry to agriculture, etc., making decisions according to this belief, unfortunately! In short, THE ARGUMENT OF THE FORCE DEFEATED THE FORCE OF THE ARGUMENTS!” Eugen Teodorovici added.
The PSD Senator criticized on July 13, in a TV show, the 12 million euros financing of a stadium in Teleorman, as the Development Minister decided. He also spoke about the possibility of taxing the Church, but his idea was criticized by the PSD leader Liviu Dragnea on the next day. On the same day, Mihai Tudose dismissed Teodorovici as Honorary Counselor, only 10 days after he was appointed in this position.
“Mr. Teodorovici was my collaborator and I thought we can collaborate on consultancy issues, if you wish, on the financial-fiscal matter, which is his area of knowledge. Only that he probably had a wrong understanding and he turned himself in a spokesman, and I understand that I should hear about his ideas from him, not from the press”, Tudose argued Teodorovici’s dismissal.
Eugen-Orlando Teodorovici was minister in two Governments led by Victor Ponta: he was the Minister of the EU Funds (since December, 2012 to March, 2013) and the Finance Minister (since March, 2015 to November, 2015).
