JusMin Toader to discuss CVM, justice laws with EC First Vice-President Timmermans on Wednesday

Romania’s Justice Minister Tudorel Toader will have a meeting in Brussels on Wednesday with European Commission First Vice-President Frans Timmermans, Justice Ministry officials told AGERPRES on Tuesday.

According to the same sources, the talks between the two will focus on the recent developments in the Co-operation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) and its prospects, as well as a package of laws concerning justice.

Toader had previously announced this meeting.

“We’ll be mainly discussing the guidelines, the principles for the package of laws concerning justice, judiciary restructuring on two levels already discussed, so that we can then complete the package of laws, submit it to the approval procedure, and be able to adopt it in the Government on 1 September and send it to Parliament for debate and adoption,” Toader said on 21 July at the beginning of a government meeting.
