Neacsu: I found out Grindeanu will challenge his exclusion from PSD. It will be discussed within appropriate forums

Social Democratic Party (PSD) Secretary General Marian Neacsu stated on Tuesday, in Timisoara, that he found out during the local party branch’s meeting that former party branch leader Sorin Grindeanu will challenge the decision to exclude him from the party, however no official document has been lodged so far. Neacsu pointed out that PSD Timis will continue to be led, ad interim, by Executive President Calin Dobra.

“I found out here, in Timisoara. I didn’t know. No kind of challenge has been registered, I found out here that Mr Grindeanu might lodge such a challenge. If he does, it will be analysed within the relevant forums. (…) Mr Dragnea and we, the members of the leadership, are preoccupied with there being peace and quiet in Timisoara, with the branch functioning and with people regaining confidence in the branch and in PSD,” Neacsu said.

He pointed out the branch will continue to be led by Executive President Calin Dorba, until a full-fledged party branch leader is appointed.

“One of the things I found completely inappropriate would be for a [branch] president to come here, in Timisoara, from somewhere else, least of all from Arad. From this standpoint, in collaboration with Mr Dobra, with the branch’s secretary general, I deemed that Mr Andea can help them overcome this moment, which I admit entails a certain degree of sensitivity,” he said.

Neacsu pointed out he will lodge with the party’s central leadership a proposal meant to solve the situation in Timis County.

“At this moment, the situation has a level of unsettledness. I’ll go and I’ll lodge a proposal with the statutory national forum, which can take a decision. To the extent the branch’s will is the one I’ve presented, I tend to believe this decision would be formalised at national level too,” he explained.

PSD Secretary General Marian Neacsu stated on Monday that Victor Ponta and Catalin Ivan are not in the party members’ database, unlike Sorin Grindeanu, in whose case PSD Timis is expected to formalise the PSD Executive Committee’s decision to exclude him from the party, by erasing him from the database.
