Justice Minister Tudorel Toader answering a question at a press conference on Wednesday about the topics he tackled with the US Ambassador to Romania, Hans Klemm, said that, although he has never invited to talks such diplomatic representatives, he never rejected such an invitation either, when extended to him.
“What I wish you to be certain of is the following – every time I received or every time I will receive, in the future, such a request to meet an ambassador, I will welcome her/him and I will meet her/him with pleasure. (…) However, what I want to emphasize now is the fact that I have never made such an invitation to an ambassador to come meet me at the Ministry of Justice, for I do not think this is among my duties and I will never make in the future such invitation. Nevertheless, I never refused to meet an ambassador, when asked, and I have met with very many ambassadors. (…) But what is to be discussed with an ambassador? He represents his state, the country he comes from,” said the Minister of Justice.
Tudorel Toader specified that lately he had meetings with the US and Indonesian Ambassadors to Romania, and that he is next to meet, sometime next week, the French Ambassador.
