SABIF: 768 called Ambulance Service; DSU: 6348 calls to SMURD in two days

As many as 768 people dialed the Bucharest-Ilfov Ambulance Service (SABIF) on Friday, by 6 pm, SABIF manager Alis Grasu informed AGERPRES on Friday.

“There have been 768 cases by 6 pm. Of these, 416 were emergencies. Among the emergencies, 96 happened in public areas, 23 fainting cases (sensation of loss of conscience) and 17 syncope cases (they briefly lost conscience)”, Alis Grasu stated.

According to the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU), 89 fainting cases were recorded on Thursday and Friday nationwide. Overall, there were 6,348 calls for SMURD ambulances recorded in the same interval.

The National Meteorological Authority on Thursday issued an Orange Code alert for the Capital area, valid for Friday and Saturday, during which time temperatures are expected to reach 36-39 degrees Celsius. The maximum intensity of this heatwave will be reached on Saturday, 38-39 degrees Celsius, with 37-38 degrees Celsius announced for Sunday. In the beginning of next week, weather will remain hot, with maximum values expected to reach at 35-37 degrees Celsius.
