Power supply resumes for approximately 80pct of consumers of counties struck by storm

The power supply was resumed for approximately 80 percent of the consumers who were affected by the storm on Sunday in Timis, Caras-Severin, Hunedoara and Arad counties, and currently, more than one hundred intervention teams are operating in the field.

“E-Distribution Banat resumed the supply of energy of almost 81 percent of the customers for whom the power supply was affected by the storm. Following the efforts of the E-Distribution Banat teams and contractor, including during the night, the electricity supply was resumed for an estimated 182,000 customers. A number of 107 teams, out of which 82 of E-Distribution Banat and 25 contractors are currently intervening. Their priority is to intervene at the high and medium voltage lines that power a large number of customers, with an emphasis on repairing the broken concrete posts and the metal ones that were bent, especially in Timis county, but also in Caras-Severin, Hunedoara and Arad counties,” a release of Enel Romania Press Office sent  on Tuesday reveals.

A number of 26 intervention teams of E-Distribution Muntenia and Dobrogea were sent to support the efforts for resuming the power supply in the areas struck by storm, that were under E-Distribution Banat’s area of activity.

The power supply operator is further working according to emergency situation procedures, level two.

“We are cooperating with authorities that have authoristation in emergency situation and which supported the intervention of E-Distribution Banat teams, for instance, clearing the roads. It’s worth mentioning that in the region, exceptional, extreme weather conditions occurred, whose violence has affected the functioning of electric grids, as a result of a powerful wind that reached over 100 km per hour. 13 high voltage posts, over 30 medium voltage posts and countless broken conductors are just some of the extreme weather effects of the Banat area,” the release mentions.

Approximately 230,000 consumers of the four counties have been affected by the storm on Sunday.
