President Iohannis to meet Estonian, Egyptian counterparts, Moldova’s PM in New York

In New York on Tuesday, Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis is scheduled to meet President of the UN General Assembly Miroslav Lajcak, his Estonian counterpart Kersti Kaljulaid, as well as his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah Al Sisi.

The Romanian head of state is participating in New York in the 72nd UN General Assembly meeting, which opens on Tuesday and where US President Donald Trump delivers a speech.

Also on Tuesday, Iohannis will attend a lunch to be offered by the UN Secretary-General in honour of the heads of delegations, a traditional meeting with heads of Jewish organisations from the United States, and a reception to be extended by the EU in honour of the heads of delegation. His wife Carmen will accompany him at a reception to be offered by US President Donald Trump and the First Lady of the United States.

On Wednesday, President Iohannis will meet Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip, participate alongside other leaders in the release of the HeForShe report and at the Making Education for Peace event. He will also deliver a speech and have a bilateral meeting with the UN secretary general. On the same day, Iohannis will deliver Romania’s national speech to the UN General Assembly.

On Thursday, he will go to Philadelphia to tour the Independence Hall Complex and meet the local Romanian community.
