Dragnea: Gov’t reshuffle out of the question now. On Pop: Any miscommunication can cause major malfunctions

Social Democratic Party (PSD) President Liviu Dragnea stated on Wednesday, at the Palace of Parliament, that reshuffling the Government is out of the question during this period, adding that the party’s Executive Committee (ExCom) will carry out, on September 29, an assessment of the Tudose Government. Asked whether Liviu Pop made “errors or mistakes,” Dragnea warned that deficient communication on the part of ministers can lead to major malfunctions and confusion in society.

“In my view, a reshuffle is out of the question during this period. (…) I won’t propose any reshuffle during this Executive Committee [meeting],” Liviu Dragnea stated.

He said that the ExCom will carry out an assessment of the Government, ministry-by-ministry, based on the governance platform, on actions, measures, and their observance, but pointed out that things have changed in contrast to the previous Cabinet. “It’s a total change, there is a lot of recouping, very many delays have been recouped, things are looking good, but an assessment is necessary. We’ll carry out one now and at the end of the year, in order to give the Government the opportunity to say what has been done, in order for party colleagues to see the progress made, what the status is and what we expect at the end of next year,” Dragnea explained.

Asked whether Education Minister Liviu Pop made “errors or mistakes,” the PSD leader pointed out that miscommunication on the part of ministers can lead to major malfunctions and confusion in society.

“Any miscommunication can lead to major malfunctions, to confusion and dissatisfaction in society. I hope they’ve lately understood that communication is not a game, not a whim, and it’s not a small or unimportant reason so as not to discuss the attitude of a party member. Constantly poor communication, made randomly, induces a feeling of mistrust among the population, which is essential for the stability of the Government [sic]. There are people who are the beneficiaries of some governmental measures, but if they “benefit” from disorganised communication they no longer clearly know whether what they receive is good or bad,” Liviu Dragnea said.
