President Klaus Iohannis sent a message of condolences to his counterpart of the United Mexican States Enrique Pena Nieto, according to a release of the Presidential Administration.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic news regarding the devastating earthquake that affected again you country on 19 September. On the behalf the Romanian people and me, please accept our entire compassion and solidarity. I wish the Mexican people and authorities a lot of strength in order to overcome this new hard test of nature,” the President’s message published on Thursday by the Presidential Administration reads.
Furthermore, the head of state sent his condolences to the victims’ families and wish fast recovery to the injured people.

“My condolences to the Mexican people over the recent loss of human lives,” said Iohannis, in the beginning of his speech held during the general debates of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, taking place in New York.
The earthquake took place exactly 32 years after the great earthquake of 1985, when 10,000 people lost their lives (30,000, according to some estimates), which remains a national trauma in Mexico.
