Former PSD ChairmanVictor Ponta launches a scathing attack against Liviu Dragnea, asking him to resign from his political and parliamentary offices. He declares himself convinced of the fact that Rovana Plumb is only a “collateral victim,” claiming that “the whole problem stemmed from the sick greed of only one man, who was not satisfied transferring the Belina Lake to Teleorman CJ [County Council] in order to tap into a European programme, but immediately transferred to Teldrum’s exclusive and restrictive use what should have been for all people.” Ponta also says that the Government is now completely gridlocked by Liviu Dragnea’s personal problem, and Parliament and PSD have become solely a person’s instruments of defence.
On Sunday, Victor Ponta wrote on Facebook that the DNA’s “Belina Lake” dossier will reach the Lower House on Monday, for greenlighting, and thus it will be seen that neither he nor Sorin Grindeanu, nor Robert Cazanciuc filed any denunciation against Liviu Dragnea or anyone else, but were subpoenaed as witnesses in a dossier in which documents had been gathered, and they declared “only the truth.”
He launched a scathing attack against Liviu Dragnea, stating he is lying and manipulating PSD members and voters shamelessly and cynically, and this will not work forever.
“The whole press campaign – paid with a lot of money – about the Social Democrat “denouncers” at the DNA will turn out to be yet another huge lie which is a Liviu Dragnea trademark! Dragnea is actually lying and manipulating PSD members and voters with a lot of brazenness and cynicism and this can’t go on like this forever. I don’t expect apologies, but now I’m certain all PSD members who are still thinking with their own heads will understand that mud is being thrown at me and at other colleagues in order to hide the one who is truly responsible for all these situations,” Ponta wrote.
The former PSD leader also claims that now it will be understood that “the whole problem stemmed from the sick greed of only one man.”
“Now it will be understood that the whole problem stemmed from the sick greed of only one man, who was not satisfied transferring the Belina Lake to Teleorman CJ [County Council] in order to tap into a European programme – and leaving everything open to the public –, but immediately transferred to Teldrum’s exclusive and restrictive use what should have been for all people! Neither Ponta, nor Maior, nor Soros took a huge state-owned property to transfer it to their private company for peanuts!!! Who steals something like this from public ownership is not a victim of Justice, but must pay before the law!” Victor Ponta says.
He also states that to pretend you are being “abused” in such a case, instead of clarifying things, is an insult to all those who have really been unjustly accused by abusive prosecutors in recent years, based on strictly political criteria and invented reasons.
Likewise, the former PSD leader declares himself convinced that Rovana Plumb had no idea the Belina Lake was going to eventually end up at Teldrum and that she is a collateral victim in this affair, so that he, in his capacity as Lower House member, will not vote in favour of the DNA request for the Lower House to lift her immunity in order to criminally probe her: “And I believe all Lower House colleagues from all parties should reject this completely mistaken request.”
Ponta adds that the Government is now completely gridlocked because of Liviu Dragnea’s personal problems, while Parliament and PSD have become solely a person’s instruments of defence.
“This situation will gravely affect both PSD’s image and results, as well as Romania’s development – because of a greedy and deceitful man, we’re destroying everything we did well! In the paranoid communication of these days, we found out that Maior from Washington and Ponta from ‘Pro Romania’ want to take over PSD – those who support these lies in order to fool people are not explaining how exactly two people who are not that party’s members could take over the party?!? Silly messages coming from a former PD member and from his group of former PRM members who have confiscated PSD and have removed all those who fought for this party their entire political careers,” Ponta claims.
He also says that, for the well-being of PSD, of the Government and of Romania, there is a simple solution that can be applied starting tomorrow: Liviu Dragnea should resign from his political and parliamentary offices.
“At PSD, the Executive President, [the Chairman] of the National Council or one of the Vice Presidents (the Prime Minister himself, that would be most correctly and efficiently) should take over leadership / at the Lower Chamber, one of the incumbent Deputy Speakers should take over the Speaker’s office! And so, nobody would keep uttering that nonsense about Maior, Ponta, etc., but things would resume their proper track! Otherwise everything will go from bad to worse. That is what a man who truly thinks about the well-being of PSD, of the Government and of Parliament would do! And that is how he would show he is innocent and tranquilly defends without using his colleagues and the state’s fundamental institutions as a shield! That’s what I did and I wasn’t wrong! What say you Liviu, are you capable at least once to do something for others too, not just for you?!” the former PSD President concludes.
