Romania wins LW2x gold at 2017 World Rowing Championships

The Romanian team consisting of Ionela-Livia Lehaci and Gianina-Elena Beleaga on Saturday won the gold medal in the Lightweight Women’s Double Sculls (LW2x) race at 2017 World Rowing Championships at Sarasota-Bradenton.

Lehaci and Beleaga clocked in at 06:55.880, surpassing the teams of New Zealand (Zoe McBride, Jackie Kiddle), 06:56.090 and the US (Emily Schmieg, Michelle Sechser), 06:56.380.

There are two more Romanian teams competing in finals, both on Sunday : the Women’s Eight (Ioana Vrinceanu, Viviana-Iuliana Bejinariu, Mihaela Petrila, Iuliana Popa, Madalina Beres, Denisa Tilvescu, Adelina Bogus, Laura Oprea and Daniela Druncea), and the Men’s Eight (Cristian Ivascu, Marius-Vasile Cozmiuc, Adrian Damii, Constantin Adam, Constantin Radu, Sergiu-Vasile Bejan, Cristi-Ilie Pirghie, Ciprian Tudosa and Adrian Munteanu).

Romania has lined up six teams for the 2017 World Rowing Championships hosted by the US state of Florida.
