Cartel Alfa National Trade Union Confederation starts protest in Victoriei Square

A few thousand trade union representatives from several business fields have started a protest in Victoriei Square of Bucharest before the Government House, dissatisfied, among other things, with the official measure of transferring payment of insurance contributions from employers to employees.

According to organisers, the Cartel Alfa National Trade Union Confederation, as many as 10,000 protesters are expected to attend the rally between 11:00hrs and 16:00hrs. The protest rally has the approval of the Bucharest City Hall’s committee in charge with approving requests for public assemblies.


Victoriei Square protesters, invited to Gov’t for talks


A delegation of the trade labour protesters attending a rally in Victoriei Square in Bucharest was welcomed at the Government House on Wednesday, spokeswoman for the AFER railway workers’ trade union Alexei Ioneta told Agerpres on Wednesday.

According to Ioneta, the delegation that joined the Government talks includes: Cartel Alfa Chairman Bogdan Hossu; trade union leader of the railway mechanics Iulian Mantescu and Chairman of the National Union of Police Officers and Contractual Staff (SNPPC) Dumitru Coarna.
