The prosecutor general of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice (PICCJ) Augustin Lazar had a meeting with EUROPOL Executive Director Robin Wainwright, during an official visit to the Netherlands, with discussions focusing on organized crime and terrorism, a PICCJ release informs on Tuesday.
According to the cited source, the visit to the Netherlands of the prosecutor general was occasioned by the participation in the Consultative Forum of Prosecutors General and Directors of Public Prosecutions of the Member States of the European Union, an event organized annually at the European Union’s Judicial Cooperation Unit (EUROJUST).
“On this occasion, on October 9, 2017, the prosecutor general of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice had a meeting with EUROPOL Executive Director Robin Wainwright to discuss issues related to the trends and developments of the organized crime and terrorism phenomenon, the expertise provided by EUROPOL during cross-border investigations and the cooperation with Romania in the field,” the release reads.
Augustin Lazar also met with Gerrit van der Burg, chairman of the Dutch Prosecutor Generals’ Board, and discussed with him about the cooperation between the two prosecutors’ offices and the digitization of the criminal investigation, and visited the International Criminal Court where he had a working meeting with Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Fatou Bensouda.
Also participating in these events was the Prosecutor’s Office representative Nadina Spinu, prosecutor with the International Judicial Cooperation Service, International Relations and Programmes.
