DefMin, French Ambassador discuss military bilateral relations and cooperation in NATO and EU

National Defence Minister Mihai Fifor on Monday at the ministry headquarters had a meeting with France’s Ambassador in Bucharest Michele Ramis, to discuss bilateral relations in the military area, with a focus on cooperation inside the European Union and NATO.

According to a National Defence Ministry (MApN) release, the two officials appreciated the importance of strengthening collaboration among European states in the line of defence, including from the perspective of the permanent structured cooperation (PESCO).

“On this occasion, Minister Mihai Fifor underscored the opportunity provided by this initiative for consolidating cooperation in terms of security and defence, a priority topic on the European agenda,” the release points out.

At the same time, in a NATO context, the National Defence Minister pointed out the need to continue the demarches aimed at ensuring stability in the Black Sea region, stressing the importance of the French military presence in allied exercises carried out on the national territory, for securing the interoperability between the armed forces of the two states.
