USR has lost one more deputy; Oana Bizgan annonuced she will continue as an independent

The Save Romania Union (USR) MP Oana Bizgan announced on Monday that she decided to continue her mandate in Parliament as an independent deputy, but she will also continue to collaborate with USR; she mentioned that her reason is a “personal” one and she doesn’t have any new political project in this moment.

“I decided today to continue as an independent deputy. I will continue to collaborate with USR. I didn’t negotiate, I am not negotiating and I will not negotiate this position with any existing party and I will continue to be loyal to the founding principles of USR” said Oana Bizgan.

She mentioned that she wants to end her term “in the most effective way”.

“This decision to become independent is a personal decision, and I believe this is the most effective way through which I can contribute to a better Romania. I don’t think to any new project for the moment, but to all the project that I started related to equal opportunities and women’s rights in Romania, which I want to take to an end” Bizgan added.

Oana Bizgan is on her first MP mandate. She worked as the Chairman of the Committee for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men, also being a member of the Committee for Economic Policy, Reform and Privatization.

USR deputy Manuel Costescu resigned in March. The former leader of the party Nicusor Dan also resigned, but he is affiliated to the USR parliamentary group.
