King Mihai was celebrated on Wednesday by the royal family as he turned 96. The monarch spent his birthday in private, at his residence in Switzerland together with his daughter, Princess Sofia. The King is under the close supervision of medical staff of various specialties, accompanied by members of His Majesty’s House detached to Switzerland and under the care of two Orthodox nuns, informs the site romaniaregala.ro.
On behalf of King Mihai I, Custodian of the Crown, Princess Margareta presented a series of personalities and collaborators of the Royal House from both Romania and abroad with decorations, in a ceremony that took place at the Throne Hall of the Royal Palace in Bucharest.
On the same occasion of the King’s birthday anniversary, the Romanian Athenaeum hosted Wednesday evening, in the presence of their Royal Highnesses Princess Margareta, Prince Radu and Princess Maria, the tenth edition of the annual charity concert organized by the ‘Princess Margareta of Romania’ Foundation.
Patriarch Daniel wishes King Mihai I good health and inner peace
In an anniversary message to King Mihai I on his 96th birthday, Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church wishes him good health, inner peace and contentment.
“We pray to our Savior Jesus Christ to enlighten your Majesty’s life with His blessing and offer you plenty of help and spiritual and physical empowerment. May your years be long, Your Majesty!”, Patriarch Daniel said in the message.
