Austrian ambassador Reiweger at the end of his mission in Romania: Austria is very much loved in Transylvania; unfortunately, Romania is not known in Austria

Austrian ambassador in Bucharest Gerhard Reiweger told the prefect of Sibiu on Thursday that Austria is very much loved in Transylvania, but “unfortunately, Romania is not known in Austria,” according to a press statement released by the prefecture.

“The leadership of the Sibiu County Prefecture had a meeting with the ambassador of Austria in Bucharest today. On his farewell visit, His Excellency Gerhard Reiweger was accompanied by Austria’s honourary consul in Sibiu Andreas Huber. At the end of his diplomatic mission to Romania, ambassador Reiweger presented to Prefect Adela Muntean his conclusions: Austria is very much loved in Transylvania, but unfortunately, Romania is not known in Austria. The two officials agreed that bilateral relations can be developed by cultivating regional collaboration between the counties of Romania and the Austrian lands.”

Prefect Muntean assured the Austrian diplomat of her openness to cooperation, saying that she supports all projects that benefit the citizens of Sibiu County.

Ambassador Reiweger’s term in Romania ends on Friday, October 27, when he is scheduled to visit Hosman and Avrig in Sibiu, according to the Honorary Consulate of Austria in Sibiu.
