“Pearl of the Carpathians” hosts the Romanian Cup of Floral Art

Recognized at national and international level as the “Pearl of the Carpathians”, being the most famous resort on the Prahova Valley, in the recent years Sinaia has also become the place of some important events in various areas. The Romanian Cup of Floral Art is one of these events, the competition being held in the first day of November.

For the first time in Romania, the talented florists who are dedicated to this craft will have the opportunity to assess their skills at a real level. This will be possible due to organizing the Romanian Cup of Floral Art in Prahova, in the Sinaia resort. The event started at the beginning of this week, but the competition will take place today, in the first day of November. It is organized by the Romanian Association of the Entrepreneurs in the Floral Field and it aims to promote the values in the Romanian floristry. As it was announced, this event has the role of strengthening relationships between Romanian florists and important representatives of this field in Europe. Being at its first edition, the contest will be conducted according to international rules applied in all the competitions taking place in the European countries with a tradition in floristry. The Chairman of the jury will be Marios Vallianos from Greece, who has a wide experience in organizing and judging the most important floristry contests in the world, also being the inventor of the “100-point” system, according to which competitions organized and agreed by International Florist Organization, an organization gathering more than 20 countries in the world, are judged. Along with him, the jury is formed by Pirjo Koppi from Finland, the winner of the 3rd place at the 2016 European Cup in Genova, currently having multiple participations in competitions and demonstrations worldwide, and by Nicu Bocancea, a Romanian florist with a wide experience and internationally renowned.

The competition will consist in three tests, the theme of one of them being inspired by the most important symbol of the Sinaia resort – the Peles Castle. This, the first test of the contest will consist of making a floral arrangement for a dinner at the above-mentioned castle, the second test will be a bouquet with a Hollywood theme, namely a bouquet offered by an alien to a woman from Earth, and the last test will be a surprise-test where competitors will have to make a piece of work from the flowers and materials provided by the organizers.

The competitors of this first edition of the Romanian Cup of Floral Art are eight florists with many years of experience in this field – from Bucharest, Galati, Sibiu, Craiova, Iasi, Piatra Neamt, Bistrita and Cluj – who followed improvement courses, some of them participating in specialized national and foreign competitions.

The works of the competitors will be evaluated by the three members of the jury, the scores being given according to the technical and color details, but the originality and the materials chosen will be important, too. And since the time is short and Winter Holidays are coming, the competition will also include a floral demonstration whose theme will be “Christmas Decorations – the Trends of 2017”, held by the international florist designers – Nicu Bocancea from Romania, Pirjo Koppi and Tiina Koskinen from Finland.
