Romania’s e-commerce market seen at 2.4 bln euro at year-end

Romania’s e-commerce market will reach 2.3 – 2.4 bln euro at the end of the year, whereas the global online trade will top 1.87 trillion dollars, up 17 percent from the previous year, an expert survey by eCommerce Foundation shows.

“Romania’s e-commerce market is on a continuously upward trend. For 2017 we estimate that we are headed for 2.3 – 2.4 billion euro for e-tail alone. We are periodically looking at new projects in the eCommerce Awards competition and continuously interact with representatives of domestic online shops. Thus, we are witnessing a steep rise in the number of online shops in categories such as Beauty (cosmetics, perfumes), home & deco, or children’s items,” says Andrei Radu, founder of the eCommerce Awards Gala that will take place between November 14 – 15 in Bucharest.

According to the recently released report, over 53 percent of the customers who seek the services of online shops said that social media directly influence their consumption behavior.
