BNR: Nine-month foreign direct investment 1.36 pct higher YoY

Foreign direct investment in Romania in the first nine months of this year were 1.36 pct higher YoY, standing at 3.352 billion euro, shows data released by the National Bank of Romania (BNR) on Monday.

“Non-residents’ direct investment in Romania totalled 3.352 bln euro (as to 3.3017 bln euro) over January – September 2016), of which equity (including estimated net reinvestment of earnings) amounted to 3.238 bln euro and intercompany lending stood at 114 million euro,” reads the BNR release.

The number of newly set up companies running on foreign capital in Romania increased by 11.3 pct in the first nine months of this year compared to the same period of 2016, reaching 4,393, shows data with the National Trade Register Office.

The 4,393 new companies had a paid-up capital of more than 35.12 million US dollars, up 14.8 percent YoY.
