More than 2,500 Social Democrat youngsters gathered on Sunday at Romexpo to elect their chairman for the next two years at a Congress where speeches have been held by the PSD leaders and where young leftists from USA, EU member states and Republic of Moldova have been invited.
Fragments of the soundtrack of the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” marked, on Sunday, at the TSD Congress, the breaks between the speeches of the leaders, which made the Chairman of the party Liviu Dragnea to ask the head of the Social Democrat youngsters how comes he made this choice, and Dragnea was also the one who found the reason.
The soundtrack of the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” could be heard on Sunday at the TSD Congress held at Romexpo between the speeches of the party’s leaders.
The same happened when Liviu Dragnea was invited at the tribune of the Congress, so he started his speech by asking the leader of the youth organization Gabriel Petrea: “Gabi, how comes you chose this music?”
Dragnea was also the one who answered: “Looking at the way we are hunted, we really seem to be pirates”.
Dragnea: You will be able to contribute in eradicating two historical diseases: dilettantism and imposture
“PSD is a mass party whose objective is the welfare of the Romanian people”, stated the leader of the party Liviu Dragnea at the Congress of the Social Democrat Youth. He urged the TSD members to respect the values on which PSD relies, such as progress, evolution and solidarity, and to prove that they can make “society move” before reaching a high position, because only this way and only they can contribute in eradicating two historical diseases in politics: dilettantism and imposture.
“PSD is a mass party, but we are not a party only for those having problems. We are a party who stays in a direct contact with people and whose permanent main objective in its policy is the citizen. Not the system, not the systems, not the institutions, but everything should be done in order for the Romanian citizen to live better than the last year. It’s a party of the progress, of the evolution, of the prosperity and solidarity, and I want you to act in the name of these social values, I want you to organize yourself around these ideas, to debate them in public and to make society move around you” Liviu Dragnea stated on Sunday at the TSD Congress held at Romexpo, which was also attended by Nicolae Badalau and by the Minister of Defense Mihai Fifor.
The PSD leader urged the Social Democrat youngsters to rely on these values and to prove what they can do before reaching important high positions, because only this is the way to contribute in eradicating two “historical diseases”: dilettantism and imposture.
“Prove that you exist, prove that you have something to say, prove that you can do this before reaching high positions. Only this way you will be able to contribute in eradicating two historical diseases, or making them disappear: dilettantism and imposture. You will not succeed this by night, but you already have an advantage, you can move faster” Dragnea pointed out.
Gabriel Petrea: The time has come for the PSD youth organization to move to the next level
The Chairman of the PSD youth organization Gabriel Petrea, the current Minister for Social Dialogue, believes that the time has come for the youth team to move to the next level, and he promised that if he will win a new mandate at the leadership of the organization, he will continue to be consistent with his principles and to the team principles for which he advocated until today, too.
“15 years ago, I was a student in the 10th grade. My head was shaved, I had big glasses, I was looking like a nerd… But I was a young man who wanted only good things for the young people around him. I was admitted at the Faculty of Automation and I was the leader of the students for five years. All this time, I’ve tried to convince the Education Ministers to increase the scholarships of the students and to introduce free CFR transportation for students” Petrea stated in a speech held at the TSD Congress from Romexpo, where he was the only one who ran for a new mandate as the TSD Chairman.
He pointed out that in 2016 he had the opportunity to work on the government program.
“You will find my ideas, too, in there. I am glad that we could double the scholarships of the students in the first day of government, and now students can travel with CFR for free. It took 10 years for me, but the important thing is that I believed in my ideas, I believed in the team, I was consistent and, together with you, I managed to change things for the benefit of the young people. I also gained a weakness in this period – I am very insistent with my ideas, and I am very insistent in supporting the team ideas. If I was wrong by being so insistent, President Liviu Dragnea and Prime-Minister Mihai Tudose, I apologize. Our message, coming from all of us, has to be: we only succeed together. Thank you for supporting me and I guarantee you that if we continue to be united as a team, we will have only victories. I am Gabriel Petrea and I’m coming in front of you to try to convince you to give me your vote, so that this team will move to the next level” the TSD leader stated.
PM Mihai Tudose at the TSD Congress: Do not sell or negotiate your dreams, be proud of what you succeed
PM Mihai Tudose, who attended on Sunday the Congress of the Social Democrat Youth (TSD) held in Bucharest, urged the youngsters not to “sell” or “negotiate” their dreams and to elect a leading team that will bring added value to the party.
“I am asking all of you not to try to make us or somebody else to be proud of you. Make things in order not to sell your dreams, not to negotiate your dreams, be proud of what you succeed. By what you are electing today, those you elect should not be our voices in you, but your voices in us, they should that team that will bring added value to the party, to the leading team of the party and to the government team” stated Mihai Tudose in the opening of the TSD Congress.
