CCIR hosts industrial seminar dedicated to easing contacts between French and Romanian companies

The Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR) hosted on Wednesday an industrial seminar dedicated to easing contacts between French and Romanian companies. The event was organised in partnership with the French Naval Industry Association (GICAN) and France’s NAVAL GROUP (formerly DCNS), under the patronage of Her Excellency Ms Michele Ramis, French Ambassador to Romania. CCIR President Mihai Daraban stated at the opening of the event: “We follow with interest the development of the defence industry and military procurements and we wait to see how the 2 percent of GDP allocated for defence will be spent.”

H.E. Ms Michele Ramis, French Ambassador to Romania, thanked the organisers of the seminar for the initiative and welcomed the presence of 16 French companies, members of GICAN. H.E. Ms Ramis pointed out that “both countries are coastal countries and have river networks and a long industrial tradition and recognised know-how in this sector. On the economic plane I would like to remind France’s importance in the Romanian economy, with total direct investments of over 4 billion euro, being the fourth-largest foreign investor in Romania. French companies represent 12 percent of Romania’s GDP and generate 120,000 jobs.”
