PSD’s CExN adopts resolution denouncing “parallel, illegitimate state”

President Iohannis accused of breaking one of his main constitutional prerogatives by tolerating the infringing of the fundamental law

Meeting within the National Executive Committee (NatExCom) on Friday, Social Democratic Party (PSD) leaders unanimously adopted a resolution in which they denounce the existence of a so-called “Illegitimate Deeps State” which, in their opinion, is trying to take over political power and which represents a danger worthy of worrying the public opinion. They accuse President Klaus Iohannis of being an accomplice – via his lack of reaction – to the numerous infringements of the Constitution, committed by the exponents of the so-called “Illegitimate Deep State,” and of breaking one of his main constitutional prerogatives, namely that of watching over the observance of the fundamental law and the proper functioning of state authorities.

“PSD notes the existence of several vulnerabilities of the rule of law, which are speculated by the exponents of the “Illegitimate Deep State” in order to discretionarily take control of political or judicial power. Hence, the “Illegitimate Deep State” is using the public financial resources and instruments specific to state authority to intimidate, blackmail or remove the political decisionmakers who support or promote legislative amendments meant to set the branches of government back onto their constitutional tracks, in line with democratic principles and fundamental human rights and freedoms,” reads the resolution that PSD leaders adopted on Friday.

The Social Democrats claim that the latest actions of the “Illegitimate Deep State,” dissimulated under the so-called ‘anticorruption fight’ obviously seek to harass and, eventually, decapitate the legitimately elected political power, in order for it not to be able to carry out its governance platform it committed to before the electorate.”

PSD also claims that the so-called “Illegitimate Deep State” is willing to block all public policies meant to hike incomes, create jobs, support local capital, or reform the judiciary, out of the desire to hold control over political power.

PSD leaders accuse President Klaus Iohannis of tolerating, through lack of reaction, the grave deviations from the letter and the spirit of the Constitution, committed by the “Illegitimate Deep State,” thus breaking one of his main prerogatives, namely that of watching over the observance of the fundamental la and the proper functioning of state authorities.

“PSD expresses its complete support for the reformation of the judicial system, based on the functional European model,” the PSD leaders who met at Baile Herculane point out.

“PSD appreciates the effort of the press, which has had and has an essential role in defending democracy and fundamental human rights. Despite all pressures and threats, there were radio and television stations, newspapers and publications that had the courage to reveal the abuses of the “Illegitimate Deep State” and the mechanism with which it is trying to confiscate the legitimately elected power. Without these reports, much of the wrongdoing and excesses of the “Illegitimate Deep State” would have remained unknown and could have proliferated without any kind of resistance on the part of the public opinion,” reads the Social Democrats’ resolution.

PSD leaders also state that the party expresses its full support for the PSD-ALDE parliamentary majority, for the adoption of the package of laws “that would ensure the reformation of the judicial system, in line with CCR [Constitutional Court of Romania] decisions and European Directives, that would guarantee the stopping of abuses and the enforcement of the same basic principles that govern the act of justice in all European countries, in observance of the fundamental rights and freedoms of the citizens.”

“The package containing the legislative amendments necessary in the field of the judiciary represents the only legal, democratic and constitutional instrument guaranteeing the precise observance of the fundamental rights included in the European Human Rights Convention, taking concrete form in ensuring the judges’ real independence to exercise and carry out the act of justice,” the resolution reads.

PNL’s Gorghiu: Everything that does not obey PSD is the deep state, even economic laws might be plotting against them

National Liberal Party (PNL) Senator Alina Gorghiu ironizes the resolution that PSD leaders adopted on Friday, which denounces the existence of a so-called “Illegitimate Deep State” in Romania, stating that everything that does not obey PSD is the deep state, even the economic laws that do not submit themselves to the Government’s aberrant fiscal policies.

“Everything that does not obey PSD is a deep state! It’s very likely even economic laws are plotting against them, because they do not submit themselves to the aberrant fiscal policies. In the same key, we can think that European institutions are part of the deep state too. Because the CVM report does not contain exactly what PSD wants. We can think that about the Americans too, because they support equality before the law and the fight against corruption. So, all those who do not believe PSD’s lies and manipulations are the deep state,” Alina Gorghiu wrote on Facebook.

The former PNL President points out that the deep state fad will be used by PSD to justify its need for political control, so as not to be accused of placing at the forefront the thesis of the fight against abuses.

“It’s a kind of updated “foreign enemy” tactic. It’s the same frustration as when you’re robbed and are left with nothing in the pockets, while the thief accuses you of insulting him without a reason. In the end you are left both robbed and scolded. Basically, this is what PSD is doing under the guise of the fight against the deep state and abuses. PSD’s victimisation is a bit too embarrassing,” Gorghiu explained.

The statulparalel.ro [deepstate.ro] website has appeared: The deep state consists of all politicians and former dignitaries who steal from you and then laugh in your face

The day after PSD leaders adopted a resolution denouncing the existence of a so-called “Illegitimate Deep State” which, in their opinion, is trying to take over political power, a website – www.statulparalel.ro – has appeared, answering the question “what is the deep state.” Among the answers provided: “the deep state consists of all the politicians and dignitaries who steal from you. And then laugh in your face”; “those who mock you, your life, your work, your money, are the deep state”; “the deep state is the state of thieves who steal your future”; “the deep state is the state of politicians who promise you will live better. But in fact only they do, always.”

“Question: What is the deep state? Answer: Those who mock you are the deep state. Your life, your work, your money. Every day you work half the time to be able to pay your food, your home, to go on holiday, to keep the children in school. Maybe you manage to save something for yourself too. The rest of the time you work to pay taxes and fees. If you are dissatisfied with what you get in exchange, you should find out that the deep state is to blame. The deep state mocks you. It mocks all of us,” reads the www.statulparalel.ro webpage.

The description of the so-called deep state continues by pointing out its members.

“The deep state consists of all the politicians and dignitaries who steal from you. And then laugh in your face. It consists of those who have villas and holiday homes of thousands of metres, despite holding public sector sinecures all their lives, where they took advantage of other people’s work and pursued their personal interests. It consists of those who unjustly obtained doctoral titles, even though they do not know how to speak. It consists of those who vacation in exotic countries even though their salaries would not allow them to. It consists of those who appoint their children in well-paid offices. It consists of those who steal the funds for pharmaceutical drugs or those for the education of your children. It consists of those who earn a lot of money by doing business with the state, through fraud and corruption. It consists of those who steal plots of lands and homes and islands from this country’s patrimony. It consists of those who earn commissions from all public procurements. It consists of those who confer upon themselves special rights in relation to the rest of the citizens,” the website shows.

“The deep state is the state of thieves who steal your future. The deep state is the state of politicians who promise you will live better. But in fact only they do, always. What can you do to get rid of the deep state? 1. Go out and vote! 2. Think who you are voting for! 3. Hold them accountable for what they are doing and what they promised you! 4. Inform yourself! Follow investigative journalists!” reads the conclusion of the description of the deep state, posted on www.statulparalel.ro.
