Premier Mihai Tudose congratulated on Wednesday, at the beginning of the government meeting, the Ministries of Economy and Energy, as well as national gas transmission company Transgaz on the signing of the the contract for the execution of the Bulgaria – Romania – Hungary – Austria (BRUA) gas pipeline, mentioning that this project is “a major investment” that will help create 3,000 jobs.
The contract-signing ceremony for the execution of the gas transport pipeline – stage 1 of the BRUA project took place on Tuesday at the Victoria Palace of Government.
The contracts were signed by Transgaz CEO Ion Sterian, Karl Leidenfrost – managing director of Austrian company Habau PPS Pipeline Systems, and Petre Mustatea – CEO of oil & gas pipeline manufacturer Inspet SA Ploiesti.
Deputy PM Marcel Ciolacu said that BRUA is a project connecting Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria that is a priority to the government and particularly important to the country’s security and energy independence. “We witness today the signing of the contracts for the execution of the first stage of the 478-km natural gas pipeline connecting [the southern locality] Podisor to Recas [western Romania] and of three compressor stations. (…) The investment is worth an estimated 480 million euro, of which roughly 180 ml euro in non-reimbursable funds,” Ciolacu said at the event.
