President Iohannis decorates several officials, military and medical, research personalities on National Day

President Klaus Iohannis decorated on Friday on National Day several officials, military and medical and research personalities.

Among the officials who were bestowed with high decorations are: Lucian-Silvan Pahontu, director of the Guard and Protection Service (SPP), Silviu Predoiu, deputy head of Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE), Ionel-Sorinel Vasilca, director of the Special Telecommunications Service (STS) and Eduard Hellvig, head of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI).

* Lucian-Silvan Pahontu was bestowed with the National Order “Star of Romania” in the rank of Great Officer;

* Silviu Predoiu was bestowed with the National Order “Star of Romania” in the rank of Commander;

* Ionel-Sorinel Vasilca was granted the National Order “Star of Romania” in the rank of Officer;

* Eduard-Raul Hellvig was awarded the National Order “Star of Romania” in the rank of Knight.

The president also presented decorations, at the proposal of the relevant ministers, Mihai Fifor and Carmen Dan, respectively, to several military and civilians with the National Defence Ministry and with the Internal Affairs Ministry, in sign of high appreciation for their professionalism proven in successfully fulfilling their missions.

The President also signed the decrees of decoration of several personalities in the medical and research fields.

“As a recognition of their entire academic career, representing the Romanian medical excellence, for promoting the image of Romania in the international scientific milieus, president Klaus Iohannis presents the National Order “Star of Romania” in the rank of Knight to Mr. academician Constantin Ionescu-Tirgoviste, physician, and to Mr. professor, PhD Nicolae Hancu, physician, honorary member of the Romanian Academy,” the release of the Presidential Administration reads.

Moreover, Iohannis bestowed the National Order “Faithful Service” in the rank of Knight to Alexandru Brezoiescu, dentist, president of the Dentist Physicians College; to professor PhD Silviu Constantinoiu, director of the Centre of Excellence in Esophagian Surgery; professor, PhD pharmacist Dumitru Lupuliasa, president of the Pharmacists College and to professor, PhD Fior Dafin Muresanu, physician, with the Neurology Clinic of the Cluj-Napoca Emergency County Hospital.

In addition, Klaus Iohannis conferred the Order “Sanitary Merit” in the rank of Knight to Nicolae Fotin, president of the National Medical Devices and Medicine Agency.

At the same time, president Iohannis signed the decoration decrees of several personalities in research:

* National Order “Star of Romania” in the rank of Commander to academician Victor Voicu;

* National Order “Star of Romania” in the rank of Officer to academician Serban Papacostea;

* National Order “Star of Romania” in the rank of Knight to academician Grigore Brancus, academician Aureliu Emil Sandulescu, to academician Victor Spinei and to academician Maria Zaharescu.

President Iohannis has also conferred:

* National Order “Faithful Service” in the rank of Commander to professor, PhD Mircea Martin, corresponding member of the Romanian Academy;

* National Order “Faithful Service” in the rank of Officer to professor, PhD Catalin Zamfir and to professor, PhD Paul H. Niedermaier, corresponding members of the Romanian Academy ;

* National Order “Faithful Service” in the rank of Knight to professor, PhD Ioan Cuculescu, corresponding member of the Romanian Academy, and to professor, PhD Ion Necoara, the Polytechnic University of Bucharest.

The president has also presented the National Order “For Merit” in the rank of Knight to associate professor, PhD Alin-Constantin Dirtu, with the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi, and to associate professor, PhD Lucian Dragut with the West University of Timisoara.
