President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday signed the decree on the promulgation of the Law on building the December 1 1918 Great Union Monument in Alba Iulia, informs the Presidential Administration.
The Law stipulates that a maximum of 18,800 thousand lei will be earmarked from the state budget for the building of the Monument to celebrate the Great Union of December 1 1918 in Alba Iulia, Alba County. Construction works will begin in 2017 and they will be completed in 2018. The money for the construction works will be granted via the Ministry of Culture and National Identity and the Alba Iulia Local Council.
According to the normative act, the Ministry of Culture and National Identity will ensure a maximum of 10,300 thousand lei for the payment of the author’s rights to the author of the public monument declared winner of the contest organized in Alba Iulia back in 1993, as well as for the payment of the necessary materials, construction works and infrastructure, all to be the responsibility of the author.
The Law also stipulates the allotment of 8,500 thousand lei from the budget of the Alba Iulia Local Council for 2018, for the construction works at the ceremonial passage, the rearrangement of the Unirii Park and the highlighting of the monument.
Moreover, the Ministry of Public Finance will be authorized to introduce, upon the proposal of the fund manager, the corresponding modifications in the state budget structure and in the volume and structure of the budget of the Ministry of Culture and National Identity.
