Christmas Jazz: Viorica Pintilie’s “Christmas time is here”, in December at Cinema Pro

Viorica Pintilie releases her new Christmas album “Christmas time is here” with a special concert at Cinema Pro on December 12, having Virgil Ianţu as a guest. The album includes 10 musical jewels, reinterpretations in jazz style of evergreens such as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”, “Christmas Time Is Here” or “White Christmas”. Along with Viorica, Adrian Flautistu (double bass), Alexandru Olteanu (piano) and Iulian Nicolau (drums), as well as a string quartet and a trio of blowers will be on stage at Cinema Pro. Tickets are available in the Eventbook network for the price of RON 60 and RON 90.

A vibrant voice with serious but soft accents, VIORICA PINTILIE has been in a love story for over 15 years with the stage, both in clubs and also at festivals such as the Jazz Festival in Târgu Mureş (2013), Sibiu Jazz Fest (2013) or The Gardener Jazz Festival (2015). In May 2016 she received the special jury prize at Sibiu Jazz Festival, together with her band. A presence that surprises through the intimate, warm atmosphere of the live shows, leaving the feeling of knowing your story and telling it with her music, Viorica delighted the jazz audience in Bucharest, Cluj, Sibiu, Iași, Târgu Mureș, Suceava, Chișinău, but also in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic or Portugal, with songs like “I Love the Way You Are Breaking My Heart” or “They Can’t Take That Away From Me”.

“Viorica Pintilie and her <acolytes of sound> invite us to join them in a tempting periple through the familiar world of standard gender themes. A musical trail full of sensitivity, sincere emotion, very pleasant to hearing. The quality of the new soundtracks with which the hits, so popular to the fans, are invested, lies in the unprecedented contributions, in other words, successful improvisational variations that have been given generously to the themes”,  says Florian Lungu (Moșu’) about the artist’s first album, “Stories of a heart”, released in early 2017.

Viorica’s collaborations include artists such as Liviu Negru, Michael Acker, Paolo Profeti, Ciprian Pop, Sorin Romanescu, Ciprian Parghel, Cătălin Milea and Jimmy Cserkesz. Back in 2014 and 2015, she put her mark on the “Beatles’n’jazz” project made with Cornel Ilie and Cantaloop Band, a band she also met at “Elton John plays jazz”. Viorica together with George Natsis, Vlad Popescu and Ciprian Pop impressed twice the audience  with the Brazilian music concert “Oceano”, during the “Theater Jazz Season” at Act Theatre.

“For me, winter holidays mean magic. Children’s joy and enthusiasm, parents’ concern to keep the spell around Christmas, grandparents’ excitement to have their family home around the table. But above all,  they mean the miracle of the birth of  infant Jesus, a reason for celebration and gratitude. I chose to make an album of traditional American songs that give me joy and comfort. For many years we have dreamed of making a Christmas album in a jazz style, and I’m happy to have done it now”, says Viorica.

Starting with November 29th tickets are available in the Eventbook network for the price of RON 60 and RON 90. In the evening of the concert tickets will be available at the entrance for the price of RON  75 and RON 110.
