There are committees of the Civil Society Council attached to the President of the Republic of Moldova asking for the start of the procedure for declaring Traian Basescu as persona non grata, according to the President Igor Dodon.
Several committees of the Civil Society Council attached to the President of the Republic of Moldova held meetings related to the actions carried out by the Romanian citizen Traian Basescu on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, Dodon announced on his Facebook account.
“These committees are asking for the start of the procedure for declaring Mr. Basescu as persona non grata on the territory of our country”, Dodon says.
He also presented a protocol of the Committee for Strengthening the Statehood and for the Reintegration of the Country.
The Committee appreciates that Basescu attacks the national sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova, creates additional impediments in the process of settling the Transnistrian conflict, propagates xenophobia and the hatred against the Moldovans and Russians, creates tensions in the interethnic relationships, deepening the split of the Moldovan society, creates premises for mass disorder and crimes, seeding mistrust in the national state values of the Republic of Moldova.
The Committee is asking for the amendment of the laws on the national security, arguing that the activity of the persons against sovereignty and independence of the country is considered by all the European states, including Romania, as risk, attempt, serious crime against the state, being punished with many years in prison, according to the criminal law.
It is also asking for the completion of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova so that foreign citizens accused of crimes against the sovereignty and independence of the country will be punishable by criminal punishment and expelled or declared as persona non grata.
