The Christmas Fair organized in the courtyard of the German Embassy in Bucharest is carried out under the sign of solidarity with the ones in need and disadvantages, the Ambassador, Cord Meier-Klodt, said on Friday, at the opening of the 6th edition of this event.
“In our German tradition, Christmas is a celebration of inner peace and Christian love for our fellows. Both this year’s edition of the Christmas Fair and the previous ones were carried under the sign of solidarity with the ones in need and disadvantaged. We will donate all of our gains top charitable institutions in Romania. Christmas is a celebration of joy and I invite you to enjoy our vast offer of Christmas articles and also to taste the goods offered. By doing this, you support the people in need,” stated the German Ambassador.
In the beginning of his speech, Cord Meier-Klodt expressed his condolences and “deep regret” over the death of King Mihai.
Besides the traditional German products, such as wurst and thuringer sausages, bear, apples with cinnamon and other delicacies, the visitors to the fair will be able to buy baubles, Christmas greetings and isignia made by children, with the profits to be given to humanitarian organizations.
The children’s choir of the German School in Bucharest sang Christmas carols, after which moment all the children received gifts from Santa Clause.
The Fair ends on Friday evening.
