H.E. Mr. Florin Iordache, Vice-President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of Romania: “Parliamentary diplomacy is our contribution to the constructive Romania-Kazakhstan dialogue”

On the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it gives me great pleasure to convey on behalf of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Republic of Kazakhstan within the Parliament of Romania and on my own most sincere congratulations and warmest wishes of peace and prosperity.

This celebration is also a most welcome moment to remark Kazakhstan’s achievements reached over the recent years through implementation of various development programs. Given the productive ground already secured, it is no doubt that these successful approaches will open new perspectives for progress in the Republic of Kazakhstan, both in the economic and social sectors.

In addition, I am glad to reiterate sincere congratulations on successful hosting of the international exhibition EXPO 2017 Astana Future Energy, which is another proof of the significant profile of Kazakhstan on the international stage.

Furthermore, I avail myself of this special opportunity to bring to the foreground the strong relationship between Romania and Kazakhstan, the steadily upward trend of our bilateral cooperation, as well as the significant potential for working together in fields of mutual interest.

It is also imperative to note that 2017 has a symbolic meaning for both Bucharest and Astana, viewing the anniversary of 25 years of diplomatic relations between our countries. And, for Romania, the Republic of Kazakhstan is the most important economic partner in Central Asia. These two facts generate encouraging perspectives for expanding the whole spectrum of our bilateral relations.

We are glad that the first half of this year brought a significant increase in the total trade volume, compared to the same period of 2016. Another strong point is energy cooperation, where we have the largest Kazakh investment in Romania. This is strategic, both from a bilateral perspective and for the European Union’s energy policy.

In order to further intensify the economic cooperation, projects of major interest can be promoted in the fields of energy, transport, communications, industry, tourism, information technology, agriculture, research and education. Besides, important steps can be taken for exploiting the real potential offered by Romania’s gateway status towards Europe for Kazakhstan.

Considering this positive framework of cooperation, I can only appreciate that by the parliamentary diplomacy, our contribution to the constructive Romania-Kazakhstan dialogue will be enhanced and diversified. In this regard, I would like to confirm our willingness to capitalize on this solid foundation for the benefit of the citizens of the two countries.

I equally believe that, by enriching contacts between our legislative bodies, especially – between the parliamentary friendship groups, we will provide a most valuable support to the priority issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda, and highlighting, at the same time, the positions that our countries have in their regions. The contacts between the members of the national legislative institutions can represent efficient tools for spreading information within economic formats, as well as signals able to generate confidence, but also a way of multiplying the channels of direct communication.

Renewing our readiness to take advantage of the efficient tools offered by the parliamentary diplomacy for increasing the level of the Romania-Kazakhstan ties, I would like to extend congratulations on the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
