DefMin Mihai Fifor in annual meeting with foreign defence attachés accredited in Bucharest

Minister of National Defence Mihai Fifor participated on Tuesday in the annual meeting with the foreign defence attachés accredited in Bucharest, which was hosted by the National Military Club.

On this occasion, Minister Fifor stressed that, in the current security context, with challenges to regional security on the eastern and southern flanks of the Alliance, the activity of defence attachés in Romania is very important for ensuring a permanent and effective dialogue on a military level, and also for the intensification of the bilateral cooperation between Romania and the European, allied and partner states, informs the Defence Ministry (MApN) in a press release.

In his speech, the defence minister argued that 2017 was for the Romanian Army a year of modernization, implementation of the programmes of endowment assumed by Romania, this process to be continued in the coming years as well.

He also said that Romania continues to observe the commitment to allocate 2% of GDP for defence in 2018, the press release also reads.
